Apple has taken the unexpected step of re-releasing its third developer betas for iOS 16, iPadOS 16, and macOS Ventura.

On Monday, Apple issued betas of some of its milestone operating systems, but instead of fourth-build versions, it instead revised its third developer beta builds of iOS 16 and iPadOS 16, as well as macOS Ventura.

It is unclear why the builds are being reissued, but it is likely to properly synchronize the builds with their public beta counterparts. The trio bear new build numbers compared to the original releases from July 6.

The redone third build of iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 have build number 20A5312j, replacing 20A5312g, and macOS 13's redone third beta is build 22A5295i, replacing 22A5295h.

The newest builds can be downloaded via the Apple Developer Center for those enrolled in the test program or via an over-the-air update on devices running the beta software.

AppleInsider, and Apple itself, strongly recommend users don't install the betas on to "mission-critical" or primary devices, as there is the remote possibility of data loss or other issues. Instead, testers should install betas onto secondary or non-essential devices, and to make sure there are sufficient backups of important data before updating.

Members of the public keen to try out the operating systems should, at the very least, wait for the public betas to commence instead of jumping onto the developer beta.
