I'm absolutely okay with hearing about what's going on on the other side of the fence, so these sorts of articles are useful to me -- not because I'm thinking about switching, but because knowing what's going on with Android flagships gives you relative compares to aid someone who is trying to decide what to get -- or maybe thinking of leaving Android for iPhone. I haven't got the slightest qualm about recommending a Google or Samsung phone to someone if they are sure they're sticking with Android, so after explaining Google's modus operandi if they still want Android I'm in a position to advise knowledgeably in part thanks to these articles. Makes me seem like more of an independent evaluator and less of a rabid Apple fanboy.
But yeah, Android would have to do something utterly revolutionary, industry-changing, and difficult/impossible for Apple to compete with before I'd even remotely contemplate the merest speculation on the possibility of switching to another platform -- and as you may have guessed, the pricey gimmick and planned obsolescence of "folding" ain't it.
Platform lock-in is a thing for both Android and iPhone, but the iPhone lock-in is IMO an overall better experience.
