Apple Original Films is bringing out the documentary "The Pigeon Tunnel" in October, detailing six decades of the life of famed author and former spy John Le Carre.

David Cornwell, known as John Le Carre, is a former British spy and an author of espionage novels including "The Spy Who Came In from the Cold" and "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy." In a new documentary from Apple Original Films, "The Pigeon Tunnel" will delve into the history of the famed writer.

The film will be his final and "most candid" interview, Apple claims, with it drawing from his best-selling memoir of the same name. From his formative experiences during the Cold War to the present day, the documentary will cover many lesser-known parts of his life.

Academy Award-winning documentarian Errol Morris and The Ink Factory are behind the production of the documentary. The Ink Factory co-founders and co-CEOs are Simon and Stephen Cornwell, David's sons.

"The layered and unorthodox film is a tete-a-tete between a filmmaker and a novelist - both masters of their craft - grappling with the roots of the creative process, the power of fiction and our responsibility to the truth.," the sons said in the statement.

The producers, aside from the Cornwell sons, include BAFTA award winner Dominic Crossley-Holland and Steven Hathaway. Executive producing are Academy Award nominee Hossein Amini, BAFTA Award nominee P.J. van Sandwijk, News & Documentary Award winner Michael Lesslie, Joe Tsai, Arthur Wang, Michele Wolkoff, and Katherine Butler.

Set to an original score by Philip Glass collaborating with Paul Leonard-Morgan, the film will debut on Apple TV+ on October 20.
