Apple has issued the second developer betas for watchOS 9.5 and tvOS 16.5 for a new round of testing.

Developers participating in the beta can download the update from the Apple Developer Center or by updating hardware that is already running the beta operating systems. Public beta versions are typically made available via the Apple Beta Software Program shortly after their developer counterparts.

The new watchOS 9.5 and tvOS 16.5 developer betas follow the release of the first betas that Apple seeded on March 28. However, it still needs to be determined what new features or changes the latest operating systems will bring.

The second beta of watchOS 9.5 has build number 20T5538d, replacing build 20T5527c from the first watchOS 9.5 beta. Likewise, the new tvOS 16.5 build number is 20L5538d, up from 20L5527d.

The update to watchOS 9.4 fixed wake-up alarms so a cover-to-mute gesture didn't silence them, expanded Cycle Tracking to Moldova and Ukraine and added AFib history in Colombia, Malaysia, Moldova, Thailand, and Ukraine.

AppleInsider and Apple strongly suggest users don't install beta operating systems or other beta software on "mission-critical" or primary devices, as there is the small chance of issues that could result in the loss of data. Testers should instead use secondary or non-essential hardware and ensure they have sufficient backups of their critical data at all times.
