DJI has a new extreme action camera called Osmo Action 3 to help capture outdoor adventures with a unique vertical perspective.
Osmo Action 3 improves the quick-release system found in the Action 2. It adds notches for a secure hold and a new Horizontal-Vertical Protective Frame for vertical videos on social media.
It has a 1/1.7-inch sensor that captures 4K/120fps video, an ultra-wide 155-degree field of view, and a 4K/60fps option for continuous shooting until it runs out of battery. The 1,770mAh battery lets the camera record for up to 160 minutes.
The battery can handle temperatures as low as -20 degrees C (-4 degrees F) and charges from zero to 80% in 18 minutes or zero to 100% in 50 minutes with fast-charge technology. DJI says this fast charging capability is a first for action cameras.
Osmo Action 3 connects with the DJI Mimo smartphone app via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. This connectivity supports a live feed of the camera, story templates, in-app editing, and more using the DJI Mimo app. This app is required for activation.
The camera has five meters of drop protection from its Corning Gorilla Glass screens and is waterproof up to 16 meters without needing additional housing.
DJI has various accessories that work well with Osmo Action 3. These include a protective lens cover, multifunctional battery case, multiple mounts, adhesive base kit, and many others.
The Osmo Action 3 Standard Combo is $329 and includes the camera, battery, the Horizontal-Vertical Protective Frame, and other accessories. The Osmo Action 3 Adventure Combo is $439 and consists of two batteries, a battery case, a 1.5-meter extension rod, and other accessories.
