As someone who has saved hundreds of dollars over the price of AppleCare and AppleCare+ on my devices, I can't recommend it enough for anyone who buys an Apple product. My wife dropped her 256GB iPad on the driveway and shattered the screen. The next day, the prepaid shipping box arrived, and we sent it in. Three days later, a brand new replacement arrived. (Fedex dropped it off at the wrong address, but happily, we have honest neighbors.) Total cost with tax: $52.36, The savings on that one incident covered the price of AppleCare+ on my new MacBook Air, my new iPad, and both our new phones. The logic board on my old MacBook Pro died 2.5 years after I bought it. AppleCare replaced it at no charge. Out of warranty, that would have been $420.
Don't get me wrong, Apple has some of the best made products on the market, and these two repairs represent only a small fraction of the products we own and have owned. And of course, a shattered screen is not a manufacturing defect! I haven't crashed my car in 30 years, but I still buy auto insurance. My house has never burned or flooded, but I still have homeowner's insurance. And you bet I have health insurance, too. AppleCare+ is the best way to insure your best experience with Apple.
