In the aftermath of the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe vs. Wade, Apple has reiterated its support of employees regarding their reproductive health.
On Friday, the Supreme Court voted to end the constitutional right to abortion, leaving it to states to decide to determine their own laws to ban or enable abortion. Following the decision, which President Joe Biden described as a "tragic error," Apple has issued a statement on the subject.
"As we've said before, we support our employees' rights to make their own decisions regarding their reproductive health," the statement received by CNBC reads. "For more than a decade, Apple's comprehensive benefits have allowed our employees to travel out-of-state for medical care if it is unavailable in their home state."
The statement echoes an internal memo from September, in which management told employees the company was actively monitoring legal proceedings challenging a restrictive abortion law in Texas. At the time, Apple reminded employees of their "comprehensive" benefits that enabled out-of-state travel for medical reasons.
Apple is not the only tech company supporting employees following the decision. A company-wide email at Google told employees in affected states that they could apply for relocation without explaining why, while Amazon, Meta, and others say they also support similar out-of-state care for workers.
