Pitaka has created a system for magnetic wireless charging an iPad mini 6 using the MagEZ Case Pro, Pita!Flow Charger, and MagEZ Charging Stand.

The MagEZ name is used by Pitaka to describe any device that takes advantage of magnets. There are accessories using MagSafe, iPad Pro cases with proprietary magnets, and now the iPad mini 6 with wireless charging capabilities.

The MagEZ Case Pro for iPad mini 6 and accessories surrounding it exists within their own ecosystem. We were able to go hands-on with case, charging pad, and charging stand prior to the product announcement.

The MagEZ Case Pro

The MagEZ Case Pro is made from aramid fibers and rubber. It has a smooth texture across the back, surrounded by a sturdy rubber enclosure.

The Pitaka MagEZ Case Pro seals off the USB-C port to provide wireless charging

The case is thick but doesn't feel heavy. There is an X-shaped connector in the center that is used for attaching the charger and stand.

Since the case provides power to the iPad mini, it physically connects to the USB-C port and creates a uniform surface around the edges with no port cutout. The speakers are left open, and there's a cutout for the Touch ID button.

The pen clip is an optional accessory that aids in keeping the Apple Pencil attached to the case

An optional pen clip is included, which slips into a small hole on the bottom right side. This attaches to the Apple Pencil so if the Pencil slides off when the iPad is being carried, it won't fall to the floor.

The Pita!Flow Charger

When you purchase the Pitaka MagEZ Case Pro, it ships with the Pita!Flow Charger in the box. This small charger magnetically attaches to the X-shaped connector on the back of the case in any orientation.

The X-shaped charging connectors allows attaching the charger in any orientation

The cable is about 4 feet or 1.2 meters long, so a little longer than Apple's MagSafe Charger. The base is slightly rubbery, and the case is made from plastic.

It terminates in a USB-C connector and charges the iPad mini at 20W. You'll need to provide your own USB-C wall adapter, though.

The Pita!Flow charger is entirely proprietary and will only work with the iPad mini 6 MagEZ Case Pro. It does not work as a Qi wireless charger or MagSafe charger since it uses a proprietary connecting mechanism.

The Pita!Flow charger can charge the iPad mini up to 20W

While one is included in the box, customers looking to add more Pita!Flow chargers to their home can get additional chargers for $29 each.

The MagEZ Charging Stand

The MagEZ Charging Stand appears to be a recreation of the original MagEZ Stand with the added iPad mini charging capability. So, instead of just displaying the iPad mini, it will charge it at 20W through the MagEZ connector as well.

The iPad mini 6 is the only device with a charging case at the moment, so attaching other MagEZ products won't charge the device through the connector. Pitaka doesn't recommend attaching the old iPad Pro case to the new charging stand since the exposed charging pins on the stand may scratch the case, limiting the utility of the stand to the iPad mini for now.

There is a 15W wireless charging pad at the base for charging your iPhone or AirPods. A small LED turns on when a device is using the wireless charging pad so it is easy to see if you've aligned your device properly.

The Pitaka MagEZ Stand has a strong magnet for attaching the iPad mini

The stand tilts forward 32.5 degrees and backward 5 degrees. The iPad sits on a swivel that can be rotated 360-degrees. It locks at portrait and landscape intervals when rotating the iPad, so you won't have to adjust the display constantly.

It has a plastic base with an aramid fiber cover on the wireless charging pad. The neck is aluminum and is not height nor angle adjustable.

The included cable is 1 meter long, and you'll need to provide a charging adapter. The iPad mini charger will provide 20W and the wireless pad will provide up to 15W.

Where to Buy

These are all separate ecosystems. For example, the older iPad Pro cases use the MagEZ magnet but do not have wireless charging.

  • MagEZ Case Pro for iPad mini 6 for $79. A Pita!Flow charger is included.
  • MagEZ Charging Stand for $129.
