What I want to know is why the EU fought so hard to protect the rights of certain multibillion dollar companies by going after another multibillion dollar company. Because that’s effectively all that’s been achieved through this entire process. The other thing that bugs me about this is that since Apple has to now allow apps from other app stores, why is there protection for Apple on their own platform? Shouldn’t it be the case that if you offer your app for sale on a different app marketplace that you also have to offer it through Apple’s App Store? Isn’t that a more equitable proposition in terms of giving consumers a choice?
