Satechi Dual Dock Stand
Satechi's latest 9-port dock connects to Apple's MacBook Air or MacBook Pro via two USB-C cables, acts as an elevated stand, and contains an NVMe SSD enclosure to inexpensively boost storage.
Apple products are built with a specific aesthetic — unibody aluminum enclosures, seamless curves, and purposeful design. Satechi tries to emulate this design in its products to provide excellent matching accessories.
The latest Satechi product is a 9-port dock that sits underneath the connected MacBook Air or MacBook Pro. It has a permanently attached dual USB-C connection set up to connect to the side-by-side USB-C ports on a MacBook.
The Dual Dock Stand is made from aluminum and has a space gray and black finish. There is an Ethernet port, a 5Gbps USB-A port, a 10Gbps USB-A port, a DisplayPort port, two HDMI ports, a 5Gbps USB-C port, a 10Gbps USB-C port, and a USB-C power-in port.
The three display inputs can be used to the user's preference, but only two can be simultaneously. They all offer 4K 60Hz output, and the usual 1 external display rule for M1 and M2 Macs still applies.
The USB-C power-in port is rated at 75W. It is only used for power and doesn't have video or data functionality.
In addition to the several ports is an internal NVMe SSD enclosure. Satechi has been adding these to several of their dock enclosures, and they come in handy for custom expandable storage.
The dock's connection to the Mac can handle up to 10Gbps data transfer. That means the SSD will transfer data at that speed as well.
Since the dock is also a stand, it is built with heat dissipation in mind. A MacBook placed on the dock will have better heat dissipation and sit at a more ergonomic angle.
The Dual Dock Stand isn't just for Apple's MacBook lineup either. The two USB-C connectors can be separated to attach to other USB configurations on Windows computers.
Satechi's Dual Dock Stand is available for $149.99. Get 20% off with code NVME20 at checkout until August 24.
