Two of the biggest Apple TV+ series have reportedly been affected by the writers' and actors' strikes in Hollywood, with "Silo" shut down and "Foundation" likely to follow.

Members of the Writers' Guild of America have now been on strike for three months over pay and conditions, and they were joined in July by actors in the Screen Actors Guild - American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA). Both unions are US-based but even though "Silo" is being filmed in the UK, it has now been shut down, according to Deadline.

Under the terms of the strike, no members of either union can work — except actors with a waiver — so at least many of the "Silo" cast will have had to stop.

"Silo" star Rebecca Ferguson is not barred from her executive producer duties on the series, but actors can neither film nor promote their shows. Similarly, writers obviously can't write, but they also can't promote their work.

Deadline reports that filming on the second season of "Silo" had been due to take a filming break this week, but that Apple TV+ is going to extend that pause until further notice.

Apple has not commented on this, nor on a Deadline report that the so-far unannounced third season of "Foundation" will shortly halt its current shooting in Prague.

The Writers' Guild strike also saw picketing outside Apple Park on the first day of WWDC 2023.
