Apple releases new betas
The third developer beta of macOS 14 Sonoma is out, with testers able to continue trying out the Mac operating system before its fall release.
Developers enrolled in the program can access the latest builds by either visiting the Apple Developer Center or updating their Macs with the beta software. For public users, beta versions will be made available through the Apple Beta Software Program shortly after the developer versions are released.
The third beta follows the second, which was issued on June 21, while the first arrived right after its introduction at WWDC on June 5.
The third build is number 23A5286g, replacing the second, build number 23A5276g.

The screensaver also has a superimposable clock, with the Mac lock screen also gaining one.
The desktop gains widgets, complete with a picker dialog, automatic dimming and transparency, color changes to match wallpapers, and even the adding of iPhone widgets.
A Presenter Overlay helps educators and people in employment manage their Zoom presentation much more smoothing than by default. Changes are also made to Safari, Messages, and for gaming with the addition of a Game Mode.
AppleInsider and Apple strongly suggest users don't install beta operating systems or other beta software on "mission-critical" or primary devices, as there is the small chance of issues that could result in the loss of data. Testers should instead use secondary or non-essential hardware and ensure they have sufficient backups of their critical data at all times.
