Beat Saber
Word on the street is Apple is going to launch a VR headset at WWDC 2023, and a new hint may point to at least one popular rhythm game being available at launch.
There are a variety of different virtual reality games out there, thanks to the fact VR headsets have been around for a while now. So if Apple does launch a new piece of hardware, they'll have plenty of options to choose from.
And, one of those games may be rhythm game Beat Saber.
June 5th is going to be
— Jaroslav Beck (@JaroslavBeck) May 30, 2023
There's no additional context to go along with the tweet, but it's no secret that June 5 is the keynote to kick off Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference. It's during this keynote that Apple is expected to announce the brand new VR headset.
Nothing is guaranteed, and it's worth noting that Beck stepped down from Beat Games, the developer of Beat Saber earlier in 2023. So it's possible he may just be excited to see some new VR hardware get announced in general, and it may not have anything to do with the music game at all.
Beat Saber is already available on VR headsets like the Meta Quest 2, HTC Vive, PlayStation VR and PlayStation VR2, and Steam Index. Players are tasked with keeping the beat, and swiping at musical notes with sabers made out of light.
If you haven't seen it in action, you can check out the announcement trailer for Beat Saber and the Queen Music Pack from the PlayStation VR2's reveal trailer above.
In related news, the popular game No Man's Sky saw a similar tease before the start of WWDC. Sean Murray, the founder of Hello Games who develops "No Man's Sky" recently tweeted out an apple emoji, which many believe is a hint that No Man's Sky is, at the very least, finally ready to launch on Mac. But it may also be a hint the game is heading to Apple's VR headset, too.
