Developers that sell apps in Apple's App Store will be impacted by a handful of tax changes in select countries starting May 31.

The App Store is available across 175 storefronts around the world, and Apple has to comply with local tax laws like everyone else. New tax updates have been shared for select countries outside of the United States.

Purchases made via the App Store, in-app purchases, or subscriptions will be impacted by the tax changes listed below. They go into effect on May 31.

  • Ghana: Increase of the VAT rate from 12.5% to 15%.
  • Lithuania: Reduction of the VAT rate from 21% to 9% for eligible ebooks and audiobooks.
  • Moldova: Reduction of the VAT rate from 20% to 0% for eligible ebooks and periodicals.
  • Spain: Digital services tax of 3%
  • Brazil: Apple now withholds taxes for all App Store sales, administered monthly.

Developers can see these changes go into effect via the Pricing and Availability section of My Apps in App Store Connect. Apple encourages developers to adjust their prices as needed.
