Apple TV+ has announced a simultaneous theatrical and streaming release for its "Stephen Curry: Underrated" sports documentary about the basketball star.
First announced in October 2022, the film documents Curry's unique playing style, which saw him rocket tom the National Basketball Association.
"'Stephen Curry: Underrated' is the remarkable coming-of-age story of one of the most influential, dynamic and unexpected players in the history of basketball," says Apple. "This feature documentary — blending intimate cinema verite, archival footage and on camera interviews — documents Curry's rise from an undersized college player at a small town Division I college to a four-time NBA champion, building one of the most dominant sports dynasties in the world."
Directed by Peter Nicks, previously best known for "The Force" and "Homeroom," it's made by Apple Original Films in association with A24.
When it debuts on Friday, July 21, 2023, it will join Apple's other basketball coverage, including the documentary "They Call Me Magic" about Earvin "Magic" Johnson.
