Apple Pay and Wallet is down

Some users have reported Apple Pay services are down, from Apple Cash to Apple Card, and Apple is investigating the problem.
Apple Pay and Apple Wallet have been down since around 4:15 p.m. EST on Wednesday. The outage prevents certain Apple Pay transactions or payments to the Apple Card from working.
Apple's services status page briefly reflected that Apple Pay services were experiencing an outage. The status indicator keeps flashing back and forth between issue and available.
AppleInsider has confirmed with multiple staff members in different locations across the United States that Apple Pay is experiencing problems. If a payment to Apple Card is attempted or a transfer of Apple Cash is made, an error will appear.
The error reads "Account Services Unavailable." We tried twice within minutes between attempts and failed to make a payment on the first try, but got the payment through on the second try.
Apple has acknowledged the issue, so users will need to be patient while it is fixed. The cause is unknown, but it could be related to the rollout of Apple Pay Later on Tuesday to select customers.
Update 5:48 p.m. EST: Apple has acknowledged that Apple Cash is also experiencing issues. It previously only listed Apple Pay and Wallet.
