The App Store is promoting pre-orders for Activision's highly-awaited "Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile", ahead of a release on iPhone and iPad.
Promoted on the App Store on Tuesday, "Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile" is a version of the popular console and PC shooter of the same name, but made for the smaller screen. And, it is finally available to pre-order ahead of release.
The game was introduced in September, before being made available under a "limited release" in Australia in November. With a full launch looming, the game will soon open up to other territories to play.
As in the original release, players join together to play out battles over a large-but-shrinking map, collecting weapons and slaying opponents until there's only one player or squad standing. The same Verdansk map from the full-fat version is being used for the mobile version, giving players a head start on learning where they can travel and battle through.
While the normal player count is 100 people, the mobile edition raises the number to 120 players. There's also heavy customization of the game's mechanics and interface, so you can lay out the controls how you like it, and some actions such as being able to set if you can slide into a sprint.
Throughout, players earn XP for bonuses, such as weapon upgrades for the gunsmith, with progression and loadouts shared across other platforms. Friends lists are also shared, to make it easier to quickly group up and play.
A paid Battle Pass system is also available, providing more benefits as players level up over the free version.
Gamers preordering the free game ahead of its release will get some in-game bonuses, including the semi-auto X12 pistol with Prince of Hell camo, the Dark Familiar emblem, and Foe's Flame vinyl.
Attempts to preorder reveal that it is expected to be released in the App Store in May 2023.
To play "Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile," players require an iPhone or iPad with an A12 Bionic chip or later, running iOS 15, iPadOS 15, or later releases.
