Your hosts of the Homekit Insider Podcast dive into this week's home automation news, including the launch of the Hue table lamp plus Samsung's app — and again dive into the world of smart plugs.

There wasn't an abundance of news this past week, though there were a few tidbits of note. Samsung has updated its namesake SmartThings app to bring support for Matter on iOS, though it still doesn't support Matter hubs.

TP-Link has released its new Tapo smart plug, possibly the first off-the-shelf Matter-ready device to come to market. We also try to discern the differences between TP-Link's Tapo line and its Kasa line, both of which have HomeKit-supported products.

Finally, the Hue portable tablet lamp has now gone up for order. While still hard to come by, this lamp has a charging base and can be moved around the inside — or outside — of your house.

Outside of the news, your hosts go into smart plugs with some detail, discussing ones that do and don't work and some of the issues they experience.

There was time for one listener question this week. A listener wrote in asking about whole-home water shutoff valves and Stephen and Andrew provide their recommendations.
